Meet the team – Luke Beirne

At Recognise Bank, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We recently caught up with Luke, one of the newest additions to our Lending team, to learn more about his journey into finance, what brought him to Recognise, and what inspires him outside of work.

Where did your finance journey begin?

I was always interested in working in a role that helps business owners. I started my career at Lloyds, working with trading businesses, and it was fulfilling to know that you were really making a difference to someone’s success. That’s also where I developed a passion for property lending – something I’ve stayed focused on ever since.

What attracted you to Recognise Bank?

Having spent the last few years at a start-up trying to launch a new bank, I was really impressed by the progress Recognise had made. Getting a banking licence and building a strong reputation in such a short time is no small feat – I knew I wanted to be part of that growth journey.

My first few weeks? Busy! There’s been lots of training, getting to grips with systems, policies, and products – but it’s been a great start.

What have you been focusing on?

After being out of the lending market for a few years, I’ve been reconnecting with broker contacts and spreading the word about what Recognise has to offer.

How does your role impact customers?

I believe speed and clarity are everything: access to quick, straightforward finance is essential for investors and developers. Being able to offer flexible packages that suit each proposal gives our clients real confidence when working with us.

Let’s talk life outside work – what do you love doing?

Travelling! I believe you should see as much of the world as possible and experience new things. I try to get away as often as I can.

One recommendation?

Japan – the culture, the people, the food. It’s amazing. I’d love to go back and explore more.

And finally, what would you say to someone thinking of applying to Recognise?

Go for it! The team is so welcoming and supportive, and the business is going from strength to strength. It’s an exciting place to be.

We’re currently looking for a talented Business Development Manager to join Luke in the Midlands. Learn more about this role here: www.recognisebank.co.uk/careers.
